ScribeRight DMT - sm

Posted: Jun 04, 2012

Please tell me there are other DMTs out there who didn't meet the 98% QA score?! I'm so disappointed in myself!  I love this job and hope I can bump up my score.  Feeling like a horrible DMT right now!

Just curious - what's a DMT? - nm - MT4Eight

LOL - I was wondering that too..

I asked that last week, and no one answered me. I found out it's Data Migration something-or-other, maybe Technology (not sure of the "T" word).

DMT equals Data Migration Technician - The Wave of The future LOL!

[ In Reply To ..]
This is where you move information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) - you simply transfer information into the EMR from typed or dictated reports. It will probably become the wave of the future for MT as EMRs become the norm. I really enjoy this job - and the people who have made it possible at ScribeRight - one person in particular there who developed this technology we are using is amazing!

What exactly do you do? Are you no longer - typing/editing? NM

Not Exactly..... - What is DMT
[ In Reply To ..]
It's more checking details to be sure information matches, matching information on meds and problem lists from a database with the information pulled in that has been entered or dictated by doctors, entering immunizations, etc. There is some typing and some editing, but not nearly as much as with MT/VR. It is, however, very detail oriented.
A lot of copying and pasting - nm

sounds like an interesting job. Love detailed work. How do you get one of these jobs? I used to do data entry and MT and really liked the variety of it.

Please Don't Feel Bad - I Didn't Either - Feeling Bad Myself

[ In Reply To ..]
I, too, missed the 98% score. I have always scored well on QA reviews but this time - not so much. I have beat myself but good for several days now, going so far as to talk to my QA editor, Helen, and even Al. All of them assured me this was only a trial and gave me pointers on how to improve, including studying the spec sheets and specific things to watch that everyone seemed to miss. I will admit to feeling bad during the Q&A on Friday as they were talking about "how well everyone did on QA" and I was thinking about my score :-( However, you shouldn't feel bad - I think with all the rules changes, just going slower and checking and rechecking everything for a while will help. And, at least today, in the new email, I saw that half passed and half didn't so that made me feel much better lol. Keep your head up - I think we will both be fine!!

I saw that too - devilsadvocate

[ In Reply To ..]
and I have to say I was surprised that half didn't make the cut. Hopefully now they have given pointers and things it will bring everyone up to par.

I was beating myself up over the 99.5 I got because I am most definitely a perfectionist and the one mistake was a stupid, stupid mistake on my part, but this was just the trial - now we have June to get to where we need to be!

Could someone explain this "trial"? Is this - something completely new? NM

the trial - devilsadvocate
[ In Reply To ..]
The trial is just the first QA session they did. They have promised their clients 98% accuracy so they randomly choose lines we have migrated and QA them. This was the first month they did it, the trial, so that people could see where they needed improvement before they do the actual QA which could lead to termination if you don't get up to par.
let me get this right - perfect and 4 cpl
[ In Reply To ..]
Sounds like a peach of a company. We want perfection and we want you to stress with every line you are responsible for and we will pay you a whopping 4 cpl. Wow.
No - This Isn't An MT Side - It is Data Migration
[ In Reply To ..]
The QA Trial we're talking about is on the Data Migration Side - it is an hourly position. They are asking for 98% accuracy, which is fairly standard, I think. We are calling it the "trial" because this project just started and they weren't doing QA until we got specs nailed down and had been working several months. They gave us a trial run so we would know what to expect.
We aren't paid per line. We're paid $15 an hour. Great company - nm

jealous of WHAT - no way
[ In Reply To ..]
I make much more than $15/hr (and 4 cpl) so no, I'm in no way jealous in any way, shape or form. I just laugh at those of you who really can't seem to see the big picture.
We're happy, so what's with your negative comments about this job? - ScribeRight DMT

I would never be able to live off this income alone, but do - find it a good supplemental, sm

income for the time being. I agree though $15 an hour is not a lot and I too make much more typing.
Jealous...ROFL...over $15/hr - Mar
[ In Reply To ..]
Really?? LOL.
Are you serious. There are lots of MTs out there making more - than $15 an hour, sm
[ In Reply To ..]
This person you're addressing would not be the only one. I also make over $15 an hour as an MT. I do straight transcription. It can be done. There are MTs out there who are still making 30 and 40 thousand a year. Their complaint with the changes in the MT world is they used to make 50s and 60s. Thereby taking a cut in pay with the VR and all of the paycuts with straight transcription. I'm not the person you addressed, but I am not jealous of the $15 an hour either.
Average $22 to $28 an hour...MT...jealous much? - Me
[ In Reply To ..]
Why would someone be jealous over $15 an hour. There are many of us out there that STILL make a good living, and $15 an hour is not it.
peach of a company - devilsadvocate
[ In Reply To ..]
Okay, no one is asking you to come to work here, if the money/details don't appeal to you, move on.

I think it is pretty standard, across all MT specs, to expect "perfection" from MTs. I have worked for various MTSO's that also require 98% accuracy, so how is ScribeRight requesting 98% accuracy on patient's medical records (yes, these are basically patient charts!) unreasonable?

As someone else already stated, they do not pay 4 cpl, they do pay hourly. I also have another job doing straight transcription in which I make considerably more than that per hour, but with so many people unemployed, or underemployed, to scoff at $15 or to make someone feel less than you for accepting that pay, is just downright rude. I worked on a file the other day for 1.15 hours - 1 file - and I made as much as the days that I do 35 files an hour, so while it may be "peanuts" to you, it is nice to know exactly what you are going to be making every paycheck instead of wondering how many lines you may or may not get this week.
well said devilsadvocate - kitty

After all I have been through over the last 2-3 yrs in this industry, I am very pleased to have a job making $15 an hour, steady work and a great team of people to work with !
DMT/$15 per hour - Dexter

I work at ScribeRight as a DMT. I also have a part-time job doing straight transcription. WHEN I have work at my MT job, I make more than $15, but who knows if I'll have work for 1/2 day or not. I, too, like being guaranteed a certain amount when I'm working and working whenever I want, is a huge plus for me. This is not for everyone, but it's great for me. I wouldn't put someone else's job down, so don't put mine down.

Questions For ScribeRight DMTs
Feb 16, 2012

I have seen a few posts from fellow DMTs on this board (and wish we had the chance to talk while working to ask questions of each other!) and wanted to ask a question of you here on the board.   I have had to send a couple jobs to QA to ask about a med or allergy for which I haven't found a match.  I've noticed the comments are less than complimentary.   Are you finding that comments received from QA are more degrading or condescending rather than helpful?  Or is it just me?  ...

Ok, so I heard some great things about ScribeRight so I sent them my resume via their website. I got a reply back today, asking me a couple simple questions about my skills and also sent 4 files to transcribe (3 sound pretty easy, 1 will be hard for me since I have no experience in that field, Onc). For those of you working as DMTs, are you starting to worry about the scheduled conference call? I want to hope for the best, but I am wondering if they are going to let some of us go since they overhired, or let us know the work will either not be coming as scheduled or not coming at all.
