I wouldn't work for a company who doesn't have their terms correct. We are not transcribers. A transcriber is the machine you put the tapes in. We are transcriptionists.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about them. There's a reason they don't hire often. Those of us that work there are staying there.

Definition of transcriber - sm

1 Noun - someone who makes a written version of spoken material

2 Noun - someone who represents the sounds of speech in phonetic notation

3 Noun - a musician who adapts a composition for particular voices or instruments or for another style of performance

4 Noun - a person who translates written messages from one language to another

I never understood the haughty MT attitude that calling you a transcriber was some sort of mortal sin. Get over yourself.

Just confused about what you were supposed to get 2-week notice for. If it was for termination, I don't think any employers give someone getting axed a 2-week heads up...?

Is the Apex platform anything close to the Escription platform? Is the STAR team really worth the extra per line or is it too much to take in? Wondering how other TT transcribers feel about the past few months audits. So sorry for the rant, but I am so tired of companies wanting us all to cover third shift, but don't want to pay anything extra when we do and if they do it's something like a quarter of a penny, what in the world is that? I've talked with several MTs recently who work for different companies. The companies have to send out reminders to the MTs that they are supposed to be at work at specific times. They also are having trouble with MTs just taking off without arranging for coverage of their accounts. The list goes on and on. What bothers me most though is the attitude of workers.
