I have been on QA for at least 2 months.  The first month my TL went on vacation and when she did, I was still on full QA and all reports monitored.  I have not received any QA good or bad during this time, but when I inquired about it yesterday, I was told of at least 9 things that I keep doing wrong, and I am not good enough to let out into the work pool.  I asked for reports that I messed up and they only came up with one report that was not messed up,but a report in which I left blanks, which is acceptable at this company.  They put the blanks in red and made it look like I made errors, when in fact they where filled in by the QA person because I purposely left blanks,and in the whole two months of typing they only came up with this one report.  I was told that as an experienced MT, I should not be making such mistakes and I need to stay on full QA, but here comes the catch, PRODUCE 1200 LINES A DAY UNTIL FUTHER NOTICE.  Can anyone explain to me if I am such a hideous, lowly, bad excuse for an mt, why would they allow me to produce 1200 lines a day of bad work for the poor QA staff to sludge through, why do they want to keep such a lowly bad stupid MT or are they trying to clean up some back log off this account that they cannot keep anyone else on and they are about to lose this account because the last time I checked they were 25,000 lines out of TAT.  Your thoughts?

If so, that would be one reason they want to keep you on QA. If not, perhaps they plan on letting you go after they get their account caught up. It would make it easier to fire someone during their probation than afterwards.

I honestly don't think they're QAing all of your reports if you're doing 1200 lpd. I'd probably start looking for another employer.

or gave you any feedback?? Sounds like a previous experience I had. Print all emails - favorable and unfavorable. File for unemployment and there is a possiblity you might win even though you terminated (unless you are IC). Employers need to provide records and evidence of reviews on a timely basis for unemployment hearings and if they have none, it does not fair well for them. Also organize hours worked without OT pay perhaps, any derogatory and bordering harassing emails, a log of the # of daily emails, any dates and times of phone calls and content (or a rough idea cuz you know they have no record most likely), etc.

All I can say is get out of there! I worked for a company like that - the supervisor (a non transcriptionist herself who thought she was really important) would harass me constantly. I just quit, no notice - zip. I have never done that before and felt guilty about it. We are in this to make money not raise our BP!

Does anyone know of any smaller, family-owned transcription agencies?  I honestly don't think any of these companies who advertise are a placed you would want to call home.  I have been in transcription for many years, have tested for many of these companies and never get a call back.  So not sure what they are looking for, etc.  I guess the smaller companies have been gobbled up by the bigger companies.  ...

I have been a transcriptionist for 24 years and the questions they asked for their test were so easy any student fresh out of medical secretarial school could answer.   I just cannot do this.   I lose pay because I read specs and utilize QA trying to do a good job for the client. Obviously they aren't real up on what is being said on these boards about their company and could care less as long as clients are lining their pocket with the money.
