I started part of their test, received an email to continue testing, but I didn't cause I landed something else. But...what I will say, their test, the first part, was a breeze. They seem new, which could be a good thing - you can grow with the company. Good, bad, indifferent? I don't know.

One recommendation - Make sure it's a US owned company. I thought Siance was US based but it's not. It's owned by an Indian jerk that has been in GA 10 years and only has 10-12 US employees. In retrospect, because they were unknown, I should have known better and researched them before accepting the job. Had I seen the name Raghu Vir with all his Indian employees and his Indian lawyer that works in his office, I never would have accepted the job. You might Google the company and see what comes up - make sure it's got the potential of being a good fit. Don't jump into like I did with Siance - Life is too short to live it regretting things and beating yourself up.

Good luck!

Your smarter than me. With over 17 years of experience and having already passed tests on that site, - Dumber than rocks

I was told I did not meet their qualifications to go on and do the transcription portion. I was thinking, "are you serious." I have no idea what happened. I had already been on that testing site and passed it with a few other companies in the past month but somehow I could not even make it to the transcription portion. Also, this is a US-based company and all I know is that they used to pay low but I was hoping that changed. That is what I applied but obviously I am too stupid to work there LOL. To cashstrapped, if you were invited to complete the test, and you passed, congratulations. That is farther than I got.

You had to have had a malfunctioning web site. Couldn't have had anything to do with you. Well...if they don't pay much, it's good ya flunked...find a better employer! LOL

Those I have dealt with at this company are friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. The volume of work has been abundant and steady. The company, as far as I know, is based in the US. There is both SR and straight transcription in the work I do. The majority of the dictators are easy to understand and well spoken.

As far as pay goes, personally, I feel that is confidential and should be negotiated as part of your contract. However, that being said, I do find the pay scale to be competitive with most and exceeding many others.

Best of luck to you!

Is there a incentive program? - cashstrapped

Thanks so much for the info! Is there a bonus incentive program for typing more lines than the minimum amount?

I tested with them last week and never heard back.. - sm

I have plenty of experience and their test was fairly easy. I e-mailed and left a message for the recruiter but never heard back. I hate it when companies do this. At least let me know if I passed or failed.

Did you get to the transcription part?? - Dumber than rocks

I thought the test was easy, did the first two parts, and then they never asked that I do the transcription part, which I thought was strange. Later, I did get the "Dear John" letter telling me my resume looks impressive but it did not match their skill qualifications so I am assuming I fluked the test and that is why I was not asked to do the transcription portion. I found that strange as I had passed everything already on the same testing site with a few other companies in the past month AND even got to the transcription tests.

GET OUT OF TRANSCRIPTION
May 17, 2010

Since the advent of voice recognition and overseas outsourcing, transcription has ceased to be a profession.   I will NEVER -- repeat, NEVER make the money I was making as a transcriptionist at a hospital 5 years ago, before we were replaced by VR and cheap outsourcing to India.   Now all that's left are transcription companies here in the U.S. that don't want to pay much more, lie to us and tamper with our line counts.   GET OUT, GET OUT OF TRANSCRIPTION! ...

A Day Without Transcription?
May 28, 2010

It seems that everyone has negative things to say about how employers do not pay MTs what they're worth and how they offshore the easy stuff, but pile on the lousy ESL stuff on the transcriptionists in the States. Too bad there can't be a general strike of U.S. MTs - a day without transcription - just to show how we're needed. It seems to be the only thing employers would understand. Impossible, I know, but I bet employers would sit up and take notice. ...

Don't work for this company.  They are extremely picky.  One person tells you to do it one way, another tells you differently.  They tell you to leave blanks for another to listen to (that's what we want!) but then complain that you are leaving blanks.  No one can hear some of the poor dictators and you need to leave a blank.  If you decide to try to fill in the blank, you are wrong too.  I am a very experienced transcriptionist to have been treated this p ...
