For the first time in a very long time, I am excited about a job. The people are absolutely wonderful and it truly has the feeling of family. The platform is great (ExText) and I love my account. No one ever pays me what I think I'm worth, of course (smile), but the pay is decent for being an employee and the insurance is affordable. People leave you alone to do your job, but they are always available if you need something. I applied awhile back and the positions were all filled and I was put on a waiting list -- it was definitely worth the wait! They do not overhire, and that is a major plus in my book. I'm hoping I have finally found my home. :-)

I've been waiting over a month now, on their waiting list. Kind of frustrating to be waiting this long. Do you have strict hours you have to work?

until they had an opening. I was told they only hire people if someone leaves or they get new accounts, but I was thinking the recruiter told me new accounts are coming on board, but I'm not sure. You might check back with her. I'm sure sometimes things can get lost in the shuffle.

I was told my position was 1st shift, Tuesday through Saturday, but I could pick my hours. I chose a split shift, and they had no problem with that. I think there is a lot of flexibility -- they are willing to work with you. There is no one calling you if you start work 5 minutes after your start time or anything like that (BTDT).

I talked to them last week and they told me they pay 6.5 cpl for clinic work, employee status. Just not enough for me.

To clarify, Opti-script’s starting line rates are determined by complexity of account, technology utilized (transcription, speech, eScription, qualified text), and experience. This includes headers, footers, and 1 space between words and after punctuation. After 90 days of employment, the rate is usually increased based on quality. There are multiple levels of accounts starting with single specialty clinics up to level 1 trauma centers and teaching hospitals. There is also a CMT and RMT premium plus weekend and shift differentials. All employees are eligible for benefits; however, benefits are limited for part time.

To clarify again, we pay for every space between words and 1 space after each period. Each account has a different starting line rate.

pay for anymore. The 1-space-after-a-period thing is not an issue for me, and the lines seem to come quite easily. I used to work for another company that uses ExText, and when I used the Ctrl/I feature, the line count I got there was about 20% higher than the lines they actually gave me on iChart. That is not the case here at Opti-Script.

Obviously, no company is for everyone, but I feel very lucky to have found this place.

Typewriters were 2 spaces. Many places see this practice as line padding.

I couldn't agree more. Been here almost 5 years, and it has remained the best company I know of. The management team and QA folks are very professional and fair. Well-run organization, don't overhire, communicate well. It's a whole different world here and I hope they never change. I've heard of a few who've left because they thought the grass was greener somewhere else, but they came right back. One of my friends only stayed gone a week and begged to come back. So you're right--it's a great company. Good luck to you, and I'm so glad you know a good thing when you find it!

I have read so many good things about Opti-Script - tested recently but no openings right now. Low turnover rate - which is GOOD! So I'll wait.....So many slave shop companies out there - I don't want to go that route. Talked with some companies and tested with some. BTW, one gripe I have - testing for a company - and knowing you did well, but absolutely NO REPLY!!!
