Happy at Nuance - Happy, Working MT

Just a note out there to those searching for ï»¿companies and looking for opinions. I've been an MT for 8 years, worked for many nationals and a few smaller companies and recently hired at Nuance (working 2 months there now, full time).

I had a hard time sifting through all the bitterness on these boards to find anything positive about any company but I am finding that I am very happy here and just wanted to throw that out there for others looking for work.

I've been able to make a much higher line count here than other places (even others using the same platform - EditScript), and the pay is fair - more than I've made elsewhere. The training was thorough and mostly self-paced. There has *always* been work available for me, my supervisor is kind, understanding, and flexible, and I am paying $200 total a month for the highest selection of all the benefits for myself (medical, dental, vision. legal, disability, life insurance), etc., though its possible to get by for much less and still be covered. It would have been too expensive to have my children on there (more than $1000, but I have found that true for all transcription companies I have worked for).

It's just nice to have a consistent job with a reliable paycheck that I can pay my bills with. Wanted to add my positive experience in there with the many gripes around these board. I feel lucky, in this economy, to have a job where I am making more than minimum wage and be at home with work I enjoy.

Two thumbs up for your post! It is refreshing and rare to read something positive on this site. Several of my former colleagues have recommended this company to me. With 20+ years' experience, I come to the table with much to offer! From researching Nuance, they have much to offer as well! Take care and God bless all of us that are "rolling with the changes."

This was my first holiday there and it was so appropriate that it was Thanksgiving. I'll probably get boo/hissed at by at least one, but I must say that it was refreshing to have work all day that we received numerous Happy T'giving emails as opposed to NJA but check in every 10 minutes as you still need to get in 8 hrs. I'm so thankful I once again love being an MLS and that I'm actually treated w/ respect.

Glad you have work you are grateful for too. It can be so hard to get any positive feedback around here. I realize the industry has problems, and every company does too... but it's good to stop and be grateful for work in this economy.

with Nuance and it was very thorough and the exact opposite of the company I left a few months ago. I had a hard time sifting through the negative posts here too but have a friend who has been with Nuance for a few months. She's had a very positive experience as well.

My children are insured, just not through Nuance's selections. This setup works for me. This job is not for everyone and not everyone can make a living doing it. BUT I still think we ought to count ourselves lucky to have work in an economy like this, instead of the constant griping about how imperfect the industry is. I know many people working full time in various industries who don't have medical benefits or don't have the options of adding dependents to their benefits at all.

It's the world we live in, but yes... I am happy and grateful.

Very nice to read some positive comments here. I also enjoy working at Nuance. A few good points: Open communication with mgmt. Always have work. Rare NJA. Hired at the top tier and landed several good accounts. Keeps me busy. I enjoy logging in each morning to start my work day.

Nuance is a good fit for me.

I filled out a "profile" at Nuance a few weeks ago, not sure if I was interested in a job there or not. I was contacted a week later with a couple of offers pending passing their test. I was not interested with the two positions offered, but she suggested I take the test anyway in case a position opened up that I was interested in. So much negativity on this board. Is anyone happy here? I can say that I am grateful for my job here at Nuance. I don't feel the QA is out to get me. My mistakes are my mistakes. Work is there. My TSM is wonderful. I get good PTO hours. I have had some bad QA weeks and have been frustrated but I have sat down and focused on how to make this better. I'm actually getting ready to take the Nuance test this evening and started reading the posts and now I'm having second thoughts. Who in their right mind names a company "Happy Transcriptions?" In this day and age, all I see is "sad" MTs and, in my opinion, if "Happy Transcriptions" is still happy, they can only be messing even more with us poor "sad" MTs. I've been at TTS for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive things to say about TTS. I never have to guess what TTS expects from me, and I do my best to deliver that on a consistent basis. Communication flows freely and efficiently. My team leader and 2 shift leads are EXCELLENT managers in my opinion. Everything I invest in my job comes back to me and then some.
