I was recently hired by a company and earlier today, was having a phone conversation with my supervisor. She stated that during their recent advertisement, they had received an overwhelming response. However, there were people who did not submit a cover letter with their resume, and cover letters and resumes that they received that were full of grammatical errors as well as spelling errors and some cover letters and resumes that contained "text type speak."

For heaven's sake, take the time to make sure that your resume and cover letter do not contain mistakes. I have done the same thing myself, especially when I have changed something in my cover letter and realized after I sent it, that something was wrong.

I also searched the archives on this company after being hired by them and the last time anyone posted seeking information or whatever on this company was back in 2011. Someone had stated they felt the pay was too low (7 cpl to start); however, what they failed to mention was that once off probation, their salary increased to 8 cernts per line and this is all straight typing with no VR involved.

But, way too early to give kudos here. Even 8 cents was the rate 35 years ago, and killed then on the taxes if you are IC. Invest years, then find out maybe it was a blessing to not get hired.

My company recently switched from straight typing to mostly VR. I would happily work for 7 cents for straight typing and I have 40 years experience. It's the way things are.

I was fortunate to get a job 2 years ago with a company that started you at 7 Cpl and once off QA went to 8 Cpl and all straight typing. Great company to work for; however they just went to VR but still keeping the rate at 8 Cpl whether its editing or transcription. Hope this lasts. This company is the best company I have ever worked for.

am I crazy or does 8 cpl seem to be the norm lately??? I've even noticed some 7 cpl for straight typing. What is wrong with these people??? When completing job applications, are you all putting down the main MQ number in Laurel, NJ, are you using your current CCM's info (they chg so frequently), or using the URL for employment verification. I have to find something else soon. I guess you can consider me a complainer now too because I'm tired of making less and less money but working more hours. After filling out multiple forms, tests, etc...how long can one expect to wait to hear anything? If you are currently job hunting for an MT position, please do all of us a favor. Research the company to make sure it is a US-only based company. If all MTs who are job hunting would stick together and refuse to work for companies who outsource to India, Phillipines, etc., we could make a difference. How long did it take you to hear from people? I have sent out resumes upon resumes, on job boards, etc....I haven't heard squat from anyone! I admit I only do clinic and rad transcription, but I do have eight years under my belt, and haven't had any complaints.
