Does Oracle use VR Editing or are they straight typing. Also, noticed Oracle lets you make your own schedule as an IC, any other companies that do the same?

mentioned an account that is VR, so apparently they have that as well. OTI is one of the few companies that I know of that truly treat you as an IC and let you make your own schedule/commitment.

Please tell what you like best about oracle? Are you FT? Sounds great to make your own schedule, but are there any benefits as IC? Can you accrue PTO, things like that?

You can take PTO but you don't get paid for it!! You work by the line - sm

You get to set your own schedule, but they require you to work at least 2 hours on the weekend.

The only benefit you have is getting the money you make per line.

Typically, ICs do not have benefits anywhere. Employees have benefits and perks (sometimes) but ICs are just that--contractors.

at least not with OTI and not with most companies I have worked with as a contracstor. I love the flexibility, the ability to say how many lines I will do and what days I will do them, with no constraints of being tied to certain hours/shifts. The pay is also superfast. We are usually paid within 3 business days after the pay period ends. On the down side, it looks like the new accounts they are getting are paying 1/2 cent less and someone else mentioned taking a pay cut, but so far that has not happened to me. Generally, there is plenty of work, especially on the weekends, except at the end of the pay period and I think you find that most places. The sisters have always been kind to me and I enjoy working with them.

Got new accounts for the last 2 weeks that are not ASR (yet) so have been doing about 90% straight typing. I have been averaging about $20 more per day than when I do ASR. They can sell whatever snake oil they want, I can type faster and make more money straight typing than I can with their much-touted fabulous ASR --- EVEN ON BRAND NEW UNFAMILIAR ACCOUNTS. ...

I have a pretty good and accurate typing speed, which has made me pretty good money in the past. Then along comes VR. I have had somewhat success with it, if the right dictation is placed on it. The problem comes in when a company tries to put anything and everything on VR that does not belong there. It defeats the purpose of using it in the first place.
