Cherry picking at Synernet??? - Tired

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with rarely ever getting to work on your primary account because you can really rack up some lines on it, only to be given crappy thick accented dictators?  The reason I ask, is if work has been slow, then why are the dictations I have been getting in the evening shifts been dictated at 9 and 10 in the a.m.?  Shouldn't those have been done during the day shift?  I don't know how much more I can take of this place!!!

It's been getting worse lately. I'll also get several reports in the evenings that were dictated many, many hours before, and they're usually the crappy reports with either bad dictators, or reports that are very short and only a few lines, making it nearly impossible to earn a decent paycheck. My line counts are really suffering because of this. I don't know what's going on, but I'm pretty sure that cherry picking and management playing favorites is a big part of it and I'm sick to death of it. I just started sending out my resume to other companies this week and the first decent offer I get, I'm out of here.

I am now getting mostly ESL dictators at night. Never happened before. Always had a mix. I haven't seen any of the good dictators for a long time now at night. When I make up lines on day shift they are all there. I can really put out the lines then. Most of my work at night now comes from early in the day. Bad dictators. I've brought this to their attention more than once and they just say it all depends on the work flow and that they see no cherry pickers. Now I know. Don't know what's going on with this company. They used to be a really good place to work for. My supervisors at night keep moving around too. Never know who to contact with a problem. They never tell you who your supervisor is or when it changes, you just have to find out on your own. Oh, well, complaining doesn't do any good. Either put up or shut up I guess.

I, too, have been getting A LOT of ESLs and so tired of it. I dread coming to work any more. I know what you mean about never knowing who is someone to ask. This is the first place I have ever worked where they didn't have QA or a supervisor or someone working the night shift, too, in case there is a question. I hope I get a job offer somewhere else, because I don't know if I can take much more.

Do you really think another company will be different? Second verse same as the first. Cherry Picking has been since reports were typed. Lies were enhanced by the computers. Companies lie, cheat, and steal. VR though learns faster on better dictators, then the work is gone. Oh, but the machine suffers also with the ESL dictator too, as it will take longer for it to learn, meanwhile your rate is still 3-4 cents because THEY have determined that you can go faster. What a job. Oh, but people just starting out are truly blind sighted. MTSOs like them also...at first.

Just a thought, but you don't suppose they are taking all the good dictators to train on VR during the day and leaving the bad dictators for us to clean up at night do you? It just struck me as it started around the time they were talking about going to VR and getting new licenses for that. That's why they could say it's not cherry picking. Maybe it will continue like this, with VR during the day shift, and crap work at night. Sure am glad to find others with the same problem, as I was starting to think I was just paranoid. Pretty bad elsewhere though too. Maybe look into general transcription now or sermon transcription. Time for a change; so sad what this profession has come to. Take care you guys.

I thought it was just me. I'm glad to see that it's not. I've also been struggling to get my lines because of the types of jobs that have been coming to my queue lately. I very rarely get the ED and op notes that I always used to get. I could really build up lines quickly with those and had normals for several of the dictators. I don't know how much longer I can stay with the company if this continues. It seems like they don't want their MTs to be happy and are basically pushing them out the door. What a shame.

I thought I was in trouble as the work changed. This started just around Christmas. I called and e mailed and was told nothing is different. I am sure it has to do with new accounts and people being shifted around. Luckily I decided to try to forget the reports I used to get and focus on what I am getting now. In so doing I am building up tolerance and speed again. It is like a new training period but I figured since they said nothing was different, nothing would change. Therefore, I am getting better at what I get now and I am again getting used to what I am getting. Got to roll with the flow and the check will be where it used to be. At least that is my strategy.

I really think it has more to do with a lot of the accounts having too many MTs on them. There's really no way for MTs to cherry pick, so I'm pretty sure it's just plain over staffing of accounts. It angers me so much because it's not fair to the MTs who get stuck with the horrible work throughout most of their shift because all of the easier/good jobs have already been done since they get picked up so quickly. It has affected me as well and I'm getting really tired of it. I emailed T about it a while back and she was of absolutely no help whatsoever and didn't even really try to help me. I know that all MTs have to do their fair share of less than desirable jobs and we can't get the "good stuff" all the time. I get that. It's part of the job and I'm completely fine with that and am more than willing to do my fair share of the not so great dictators and reports that yield very little lines. What I DO have a problem with is getting nothing but these types of jobs throughout my entire shift day after day and not getting a fair chance to get any of the good stuff because there's nothing left. This is getting old really fast.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I work evening shift, and when I signed on, it was this horrible dictator and I had about 3 reports back to back of her, and they were dictated that morning. I didn't bother to e-mail anyone about it, because it wouldn't have done any good. I did the best I could do, but let me tell you there were a whole lot of blanks. I really believe it has to do with the VR.

jobs, but it is the crud that VR cannot recognize? I understand the good ones will be the ones that go to VR, but why would only 1st people do the VR files and not the 2nd and 3rd shift people too? I know it is asking too much for management to actually communicate with the lowly MTs, and asking T is pointless since I would be in a nursing home before she answered my e-mail, if she even bothered at all. Whatever is going on, it is a shame that it is being handled so badly. With so many places going to VR, it seems it cannot be avoided, but it would be nice to be treated with some courtesy and respect.

Whoa! Nobody said 1st shift is doing VR and 2nd and 3rd are getting all the crappy dictators. I don't work 1st and yes my work pool has been turned upside down but I get plenty of good dictators. Why don't you call HD and ask a supervisor? Emailing T isn't the only way to find out. Let's not start rumors here.

There is a meeting this week, why not ask there too. Besides they are only getting a limited number of licenses for the VR (assigned to doctors not MTs) and this theory does not hold water. So please we understand you are stressed, just don't go all wild here with thin air accusations. We get it. We are all having our work pools changed somewhat. Just please calm down and don't resort to rumor spreading and name calling.

was being espoused. I am fortunate in that I haven't noticed any big influx of particularly awful dictators. I do transcribe more for the new accounts, but I don't mind. I have worked for companies that had VR, but have never worked for a company that did not have VR to begin with and then started implementing it, so I am not sure what the process is. I did no name calling and I am perfectly calm. My largest complaint with the company remains -- the communication is awful. I should be able to send an e-mail to my supervisor and get an answer in a timely fashion, yet sometimes it takes a week or more and sometimes she does not bother to answer at all. They announced the coming of VR in one of those phone calls, NOT a companywide e-mail or announcement, so I found out about it via this message board -- again poor communication and poor management. Because I voice my concerns over those things does not mean I am trying to start rumors, am not calm, or that I am name calling.

if that is what they meant. Of course, there will always be those who bash others for no other reason than because they can. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs and of the company's philosophy of management, and probably it is not just transcription that is affected. People at "regular" jobs are usually the last to know about anything as well. I have always believed that good communication is the cornerstone for all relationships, be it personal, business, etc., but I seem to be in the minority.

Also, the norm for companies sending work overseas is to send the 'good' dictators because they cannot understand the bad ones either and when you are making a profit on 1-2 cents a line overseas this is called 'good business and foreign trade.' They cannot afford too many blanks though, so it makes sense to send easy English. They don't want to get the customer unhappy either. So, a lot of the good work HAS to go out. You will see that at most companies when you come upon midnight, even 200 jobs are gone....hello Philippines, India, and many other services who are under their umbrella. Not only politicians play games.
I don't think Synernet uses overseas MTs. I would double-check to be sure this is - correct information

Synernet does NOT outsource to foreign countries. Nor would they if they could. They are a good company that's, I think, going through some rough times and changes and just are not handling it well. The MTs feel left out. NO COMMUNICATION company wide. Just pockets of information that you happen upon from time to time. They are tightening up everything. From what I've read here it is pretty much universal with all the MT services. Synernet still is, even with the changes in work flow, one of the best services to work for. If they are doing VR during the daytime (and I'm not saying they are) then they should tell us so we know why the work flow has changed; and it most certainly has. When I spend most of my night shift doing early morning work, with only stats on my normal accounts, and they're mostly the bad dictators, something is wrong.

I don't know what else could have explained it.  I work at Transcend and got on this evening to work and had 3 reports staring at me first in my q that were from a hard dictator and were STATs that had been OUT OF TAT since 10-11 AM this morning.  It would appear they had been skipped all day.  I don't know how because I don't know how to cherry pick if I wanted to.  Have never tried to.  It isn't fair to other MTs.  How else could it have happen ...

I have a question. On my account I type a few notes a week, rest is all VR. So, when I see typed notes in my que, I may not take lunch or something so I can hurry up and get that note. I can type almost as fast as I can edit. My problem is this. At a certain time of day, someone comes on their shift and picks out all the typed notes and leaves me the VR. They also take good speakers. I see it ALOT. How do they do this? Can I block it? It's happened so much that now I check ...

One of the absolute WORST dictators from my accounts had a gazillion jobs in the queue this morning, all about the same time stamp (must have been downloaded all at once). I started slogging through them, and after a couple hour,s noticed that his backlog was moving a lot faster.  Soon, no more jobs from him were coming into my queue, and I was getting jobs from other doctors. Cherry picking is wrong no matter how you look at  it.  That being said, I believe very strongly that being paid by productivity fosters that very thing!  People who are desparate to make a living sometimes resort to doing things that they would not normally do.  Add to that the fact that apparently some MTSOs PUNISH employees who do not meet minimum productivity requirements!!  When did we start treating medical transcription like factory work???!!!  I FIRMLY THINK THAT WE NEED TO BE PA ...

I have all 8 hours worth of ESLs too.  Hey, check my number gladly...it surely is not a FAV number by any means.  Had a great account.  One day I got a call to get off because the supervisor wanted it!  Was taken off completely and now the entire account is gone.  The programs are such that they can block off a whole grouping and assign it to one person.  They think because you don't see the manager as they do, you are stupid.  But I guess we are for work ...

Here's the deal, I'm not saying I cherry pick every minute of my shift, but if I have done one after the other report of difficult dictators, then I will go in and assign myself 2 or 3 jobs to give myself a break.  I work directly for a hospital and I know that I am absolutely not the only one who does this.  I also cherry pick if the end of my shift is coming up and I find that my lines need a little boost.  I will assign myself some easy dictators to boost up my lines ...

Just curious about this because it seemed when I worked my last shift, I had all good doctors for a change.  Some of them I'd never typed before.  So I got to wondering if people can actually cherry pick on eScription.  I was under the impression that was one of the benefits of that software, difficult to do that.  We all work the same bad shift, let's share the junk reports, please! ...
