Boycott MTTest! - sm

Posted: Jul 15, 2010

I believe that if we all boycott MTTest, that these companies will have to find other ways to test applicants.  From this point on, I will no longer take any tests through the MTTest website.  Also, any company who throws more than 3 or 4 dictations at you for testing purposes isn't worth working for.  So, MTSOs, get ready for the onslaught because I doubt that I'm the only one willing to do this.  No company is worth the grief of having to spend hours taking tests, when we know full well that we passed and then told we failed.  I have the written proof that I passed an 11 report test and any MT could look at them and see I was right!

Different experience - keep boycotting

I've taken several tests on mttest. I've never "failed" one. Ever. So why is it that I never fail and you seem to? Are our skills comparable? I can't answer that, nor can you, but I really think it has more to do with MT skill than mtttest.

Not sure why you'd even take an 11 report test, that's just crazy.

But who do you think you will impact by boycotting mttest? Seriously. The one who will suffer is you. You limit your options significantly.

I still don't quite get when I see these types of posts because none of the MTs I know are having trouble testing, getting calls back, or landing jobs.

You've taken SEVERAL tests on MTTest? Why is that? Don't bash me because of my bad experience. I've worked in this industry nearly 30 years, I know what I'm doing. I don't test as often as you do because I have longevity on the job and don't need to test SEVERAL times. Incidentally, I took a test with another company and passed with flying colors and they didn't go through MT Test. Toot your horn somewhere else because I'm not the only one here who agrees with me on this.

I've never failed one either. - nm

It's not MTTEST that is the problem. It is each company's - grading of the outcomes.

You are cutting your nose of despite your face. Most companies test through MTTEST.

MT Test is a crutch for lazy companies that don't really care. Those companies that do care will have their own internal testing process. I'm not cutting my nose off despite my face at all. Actually, I'm doing myself a favor by refusing to go through MT Test ever again. You have your opinion, I have mine.

I agree with you!! - mrs.krabs

I just received my "didn't pass" notice. They're full of BS. I wasted time doing tests for both QA and transcriptionist; one test did have 11 dictations. I have been a transcriptionist for 26 years. I've always done university hospital work, so the test was extremely simple for me. I've been a tier 3 with MQ for 12 years (work always went straight through until the mysterious auditing began and then I still scored 98% or better!) I have transcribed everything in the book from clinic notes to operative notes. I think MTTEST is looking for people to sell their Career Step crap to; they didn't offer me that though. Why don't they just state that they had already filled the position or that I am overqualified and they don't want to pay me what I'm worth. Oh well, I have a job interview next week and they are very interested in my skills, so much that the administrator called me twice to set up an interview.
Also agree!!!!!! - anon

I've often wondered how I "mysteriously" failed a couple of tests using the MTTEST site, but passed tests with flying colors through companies that had their own testing sites. I've often wondered if something was up with that as well... My current FT job with ZyloMed was a breeze to get hired on with, as they have their own tests on their website and don't go through the MTTEST site.
I agree too. I've failed x3 I believe with 15+ years experience. sm - RoadRunnerMT

Something is fishy with MTtest site.
Same here. I have 17 years of experience worked for 2 large medical centers... - Myopinion

which did quarterly audit and I passed with flying colors. Then, I take these stupid tests on MTTest and pass 1, fail the next 2, pass another, and then fail 1. What is the deal!!!! Unfortunately, the jobs I was MOST interested in, they told me I failed and I thought the tests were no easy. Apparently, I passed all but the transcription, which again, I felt was extremely easy. I had no blanks and thought I had it in the bag. Well, apparently, I failed and then they will not tell you why. Frustrating. I will not go to that testing site again either.

That would be "cut nose off to "spite" my face - not "despite" - - may be example??? nm

MTTEST flawed - Terilyn

[ In Reply To ..]
MTTEST IS FLAWED. After failing one a few years ago; I reapplied with fake name, did SAME test, (literally copied it) and it passed. It is not the company grading the tests, MTTEST grades the tests. If the companies were grading their own tests, why would they pay to use MTTEST at all? And the multiple question tests, I have printed 3 of them (as I was required to test when my company was bought out), and one question absolutely does not have a correct answer! Makes me wonder which "wrong" answer I was supposed to choose!
Now you've got me curious. - sm

Since you've got them printed out, what is the trick question?

You are completely wrong. I used MTTEST as a hiring - manager. (sm)

Many companies pay to use the MTTEST.com site and then have their own QA staff grade the results of the transcription portion.

The system is not flawed at all. How the QA or CS graders grade it - that is seriously inconsistent.

You are wrong about the objective portion not having correct answers: They do. If you don't recognize the errors, then you are in error.

Mttest Vs Career Step Mttest
Sep 30, 2010

On the mttest site I have noticed that some are by Career Step and others are not.  I always pass the ones that are not, but when Career Step is involved, I seem to be told every time I need more schooling and this is after being an MT for 18 years and also having run my own business.  Does anyone know of any companies that do not use Career Step for testing?  Where I work now didnt and I had no problems.  Other places I worked, I was not tested with Career Step involved and ...

Using Mttest For Companies
Mar 25, 2010

How exactly do you score well on these automatically graded tests from mttest?  I am a CMT with many years experience and while I do pass, sometimes I get a score in the 80s and then other times its the high 90s.  I have been told that some let it automatically score and others manually score them.  What is the secret?  Is it just a formatting thing that throws the scores off so much? ...

MTTest - Wondering
Jul 17, 2010

Regaring MTTest and their pass/fail inconsistencies - I'm wondering if they don't set these things to fail anything after a certain number of test takers.  I'm just saying, if I were an MTSO hring a weed-wacker like MTTest, and with the high number of applicants these years, I'd be saying something on the order of "just send me the top 20."  and so MTTest takes the top 20 from say...50, or even the top from after 2 days of open testing, and then 'defaults ...

What Is The MTTest Website?

Tips For Using The Mttest.com Site
May 12, 2010

The site is very literal.  Here are some tips. Objective: 1.  Thoroughly read the instructions.  Don't try to think about the instructions - simply read them and follow them.  For example if it tells you to type the correct spelling of a word into a field (picking a misspelled word out of a phrase), only type that word - not anything else.  2.  Look up every single word and definition before you make a choice.  I don't care how much you T ...

Mttest.com - What A Waste Of My Time
Sep 17, 2010

I just had to say that when I see a company looking for MTs and they have to test through mttest, I cross them off my list of potential employment.  What a waste of my time.  Took it years ago and would never do it again.  There has to be some other way or just look at a person's resume and phone previous employers.  If I have over 25 years of experience, took pride in getting my CMT and have tons of experience in every specialty, chances are I am a good bet.  Just venting. ...

Anyone Out There Recently Passed The Mttest.com
Mar 07, 2014

HELP? Has anyone out there recently passed the mttest.com (created by Career Step) that most all companies are utilizing to prescreen their candidates? MTTest Testing Sites
Dec 09, 2014

It has been my experience that any time a company requests that you go to their testing site to complete a test, it seems to be a waste of time in screening candidates.  The audio files are extremely hard to hear and half the time the audio skips.  There should be a better way to screen applicants than by using these testing sites.  It is a no-win situation.  You spend two hours doing their screening and trying to transcribe reports that are not the work type that they are ev ...
