Anything on All Type? - not sure I really want to know.

Posted: Jun 28, 2010

Hey all!   Thinking about leaving my current company.  All Type says they can give me an all typing account, I have been doing mostly VR for over a year and am making less and less money.

So I am curious about All Type.  Thanks!

all type - been there

I was with them for less than 3 months, and working the 10p to 6a shift and I did all straight typing, but lots more ESL than they said it would be. Except for the horrible shift I had to work, it was okay.

a couple of questions - wondering

[ In Reply To ..]
I just read on their website that you need unlimited long distance. I'm guessing that would be for a C-phone. Is that still true? Also, I think I read that you have to have liability insurance as a transcriptionist to work at AllType. Any truth to that?

questions` - hope I can answer

[ In Reply To ..]
I did not need unlimited long distance - it all depends on the account you are working on. I was an employee so I did not need the insurance, unless that has changed in the last couple of months. The fact that they no long pay for spaces just changed as of June 15 so maybe other things did too.
Thanks! nm - wondering

I am just wondering if you are - MT changing

...overall happy with All Type. I haven't typed with the production they are requiring before. I know I can do it b/c I do when I have to, but for 8 hours straight makes me nervous.

Also, I was hoping to find a company with more flexible hours than 5 straight days, 8 straight hours. But that may have to be something I learn to live with. Are they pretty good with flexing hours when you need to take time off within your shift?

Thanks.

No - - Flexibility

[ In Reply To ..]
Ive worked at AllType for a while - too long. Flexible is not a word I would associate with AllType. Im not sure anyone there can say the word Yes.

They are great at making 1 offer and changing it up to suit their needs when the time comes, i.e. paying at 1 rate and changing it, paying for spaces then changing it, giving you 1 schedule and then changing it, giving you 1 account and then switching it up - the list goes on and on.

As an IC you have to have insurance, as an employee you do not.

And forget about the benefits, they are some of the highest in the industry.

If you are a very flexible person and dont mind the above, its a great place work.

benefits - been there

I can only state as an employee, not sure about the flexibility as I was not there long enough, I guess. But the 10p-6a shift was just too much for me to take and I could not get any other hours.

I would have qualified for benefits next week had I stayed there, and even though the insurance was what I had at my last job, my portion was OVER TWICE what I paid at a previous job. As a single person, and $169 a paycheck, the job I am at now will cost me less than $85 a pay check, and my previous job was about $90 a paycheck. Go figure.

And if you like ESL, more power to you, but at 3 a.m. and the doctors are foreign and boring and monotone voice, kept putting me to sleep. I only had Consults also, which were boring, when I had asked for OPs, which did not happen.

Don't know what they promised you, but being stuck with one work type after being told something else in the beginning can be a real problem and very boring just to do one work type.

No voice regognition though - at least not yet
most accounts are VR - be careful
[ In Reply To ..]
This also can change at any given moment. Most accounts were straight typing and are now VR - and I was under the impression that all accounts would be going that way. So they may be straight typing NOW, doesnt mean they will stay that way.
You're probably not on VR because of the high ESL. - Most of them are VR already.

I still can't believe they took away spaces. Ouch.

I was with AllType for over a year. - Not flexible

[ In Reply To ..]
They are not very flexible at all, or at least that was what I experienced with my TL. They wanted a schedule from you and expected you to stick to that schedule. If you weren't on typing, you would get an instant message or a phone call asking where you were.

If you ask for a secondary account, they tell you that they can pull you from your primary to work on the secondary any time they need you there. Their VR rate is one of the lowest in the business and now they don't even pay for spaces. I don't recommend them unless you absolutely cannot get anything anywhere else.

All Type - elkomt

I have been with All Type for 2 years and I love it. I have been paid on time, a fair rate of pay, and an honest caring management staff. I was asked to have long distance, but I don't believe that is for C-Phone but for training and calls made back and forth to your supervisor. If you need more information let me know.

Flexibility: - typing 24/7

[ In Reply To ..]
No flexibility, I can tell you that. And the day before every holiday expect a nasty email telling you that you better show up for work at your regular schedule or there will be serious consequences. And, it doesn't matter if you are an employee or IC - they are both the same to this company.

Flexibility - Ex-Alltyper

[ In Reply To ..]
Been there, done that for over a year..They hit the nail on the head. They do consider both to be the same..IC to them doesn't mean what is is supposed to mean. They do NOT follow the rules of the IRS on that one..Steer clear if you don't want the biggest headache of your life!!
