I have been a transcriptionist for 10 years. Two days ago, I finally said enough is enough. I have been audited 17 times in the last 2 months. I had 1 critical error in that amount of time that was a date of service. The dictator dictated date of discharge, which I entered appropriately, and because I did not enter it also as date of service, they considered this a critical error. Out of the 17 audits, 14 were 99.75% or 100%. I came into M-modal with the Alliance buyout, and it has been nothing but problems since then. It took them 6 months to get us into Fluency. I was notified 2 days ago 1/2 hour before the end of my shift that I was on 100% QA because the client had been complaining of quaility. All of the work I had done the day previous to this was ran through QA and paid at a reduced rate of 3 cents a line.
I know I am being specific here with details that will let them know who I am. I am doing this purposely because I want them to know, and I will be quiet no longer and just lie down and take it. I made it very clear to my supervisor that I refused to work for 3 cents a line and that if my quality was so poor, I should be fired. Instead, they chose to reduce the pay. This tells me that pay is more of an issue than quality. Needless to say, I resigned on the spot with no 2-week notice.
It is time that ALL medical transcriptionists stand up against this kind of treatment or this industry will never change. I am now jobless and worried about bills, but at least I have taken back my self respect. I encourage all of you to stand up for yourselves and not take this abuse any longer.
