I was surprised when I clicked on an article in the Washington Post I believe (or NY Times, not sure which). A Nuance ad came up on top of the article "How would you like to save 40% in transcription costs?" Gag me. I did not click but I believe it might have been about EHR rather than offshoring. I think many of these hospitals have been actively pushing no transcription at all but just point and click kind of stuff.
Also, what N are mainly doing now is those clients who did not want the work offshored they are outsourcing to contractors. The one I am sure of is Precision, but there are others I know.
Also, much of the work is still being offshored and continues to be no doubt.
