smaller companies that are still doing ok and paying ok, but the problem would be how to find them. Plus, from reading this discussion board over time, MTs have experienced unhappy surprises--for instance, when their company goes out of business, or loses accounts (so, less available work for you), or is acquired by a larger, awful company. Therefore, anything that starts out good might not last very long anyway. I wouldn't even waste your time looking. In-house might be the best option if you can find it. Also, some orthopedics practices do still employ their own transcriptionists, I've noticed.
