EPIC is an all inclusive practice management system that incorporates billing, appointment scheduling and the medical record into one system. It was actually never designed for medical transcription and facilities have had to create their own workarounds or outsource the work. There are a number of templates that providers use now, eliminating the need for dictation and transcription. It interfaces well with Dragon and VR. You will transcribe normally but the volume of your work will decrease as they continue to implement the system, which stands for Electronic Privacy Information Center. It allows facilities to network and share medical records if patients have more than one provider or move to a different city, called "Care Everywhere."
