You make some very good points. I know about the field of respiratory therapy. Over 15 yrs ago, nurses were beginning to take on some floor therapy, i.e. breathing treatments, suctioning, and even in the ICU would occasionally make vent changes, but the MDs and RTs put a stop to it. An RN is not an RT, and vice versa. This culture of greed is pushing the limits in this country. Corporations forcing employees to take on more and more responsibilities, blurring the lines of who should ultimately be responsible for certain duties while at the same time reducing the workforce just so they can pocket more revenue. Nowhere is this more dangerous than in healthcare. But, they just keep pushing those who dare to stay or even begin a career in the medical field to run yourself ragged and for your reward we'll keep your wages stagnant and maybe just eliminate your field of expertise altogether, sooner or later. Sound familiar? Maybe in 10 years, we won't even have doctors, nurses, etc. - we'll just have Mr. Robot check in remotely with us now and then and drones will drop off our meds to the location of our choice...Stay healthy!
