MModal is trying to stay relevant - sm

Right now, they make some money off the work we do for them. They make more money off the work they've outsourced to other US companies and even more money from outsourced work to India. MT is a dying field. MModal is doing CPR on MT to keep it alive through the end of the year. They don't make enough money off their employees to keep us. It is not fiscally responsible.

That's why they're going into scribing and coding. They are restructuring. They are phasing out MT. After MT is dead, scribing and coding will die out. Scribing will be replaced by EMR as physicians are trained in medical school that front end documentation is part of their job, and they won't know any different. The new, young doctors today embrace EMR because it's how they were trained. They won't need scribes. And who wants to scribe for minimum wage? Coding can be taught to MA's.

Medicine is changing. Every career position is changing. You used to go to the doctor and see an M.D. Now you see a PA and the MD oversees several PAs and signs off on their charts. Respiratory therapy used to be a lucrative field. Now, RNs are being trained in respiratory therapy. And RNs in my state are being told they must get their BSN within 2 years of hire to keep their positions.

Every low end job can be done by someone with more training and more experience. If you aren't climbing up, you're becoming obsolete.

You may not like it, but it's true. Look around you. Ask the medical professionals you know.

My guess is that in 10 years nobody will know who MModal is (or was).
