I was told you have 60 days after your last day of employment to decide what to do with your 401(k). I could've started taking disbursements, but I chose to get it out and put part it into an IRA money market. I did this mainly because of the stock market volatility. I also put a big chunk of it in a 3-year term deposit with a very good interest rate. Good luck.
