Coding and billing are not going the same way as transcription, at least not in the foreseeable future, there is actually a nationwide shortage of qualified coders. You do need to know that coding and transcription are not similar and if you were an MT for 25 years it does not mean you will be able to code, or even like it for that matter. Do it if you want but for the right reasons, not just because you think it might be a good fit due to your transcription knowledge.
