Epic is the medical record, it is not dictation. It incorporates appointment scheduling, billing, the chart and many other functions into one system. Epic actually was never designed for dictation/transcription and those are covered by Dragon or straight dictation using a separate system. Outsourcing has become more popular as has VR Docs have to use Epic, there is no other choice but they can still dictate if they want, but most choose to use Dragon or the facility outsources the work. I didn't understand what you meant by EMR and Epic being prevalent overseas, it actually affects Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement in the US and meaningful use initiatives. This started in 2014 and the conversion is pretty much complete.
