Awful question to be asking. Salt in the wound reaction - MTfor years Posted: Jan 18th, 2018 - 11:29 am In Reply to: Getting back into the field. - Deb
The abbreviated version is this field stinks now.
Demands for perfection are higher than ever and no one can ever make their respective QA department happy. Services are bowing to the pressure of whatever the client wants which equates to account specifications that are ridiculous and we spend forever trying to understand the logic of them. The wages are as everyone is telling you...minimum wage or less. We are all trying to find a different job because the emotional and financial stress is making us all physically ill. Some are happy with the state of the work conditions and need some extra money, but the majority of us are getting out. There is no stability or loyalty anymore.
I doubt wages will ever rise. I compare it to the period of time when gas was up to $5.00 a gallon. Companies were slapping on huge delivery fees which were passed onto the consumer. Have you seen those delivery fees disappear? Why would you? People paid them and don't think to push to have it removed from the bill or reduced since gas prices dropped. Because we have been pushed to accept low wages, the market has discovered that we will accept them and there is no rush for them to increase our pay.
Stay in retail. You are safer there.
