Minimum Wage in Your State - curious Posted: Jan 2nd, 2018 - 9:49 am
I live in a high minimum wage state. . . 10.50 an hour. Sometimes I can make 10.50 an hour, but sometimes I can't meaning I get minimum wage makeup pay. I see there are a lot of states still around the $7.25 to $8ish an hour minimum wage. How much harder and longer do employees in higher minimum wage states have to work to stay off make up pay, which threatens our jobs? In my opinion, low min. wage state employees have greater job security.
I wonder, how many can honestly make over $10 an hour on a very consistent basis? I know some make over $15 an hour, so they say, but I'm talking difficult ESL accounts, difficult dictators, acute care, etc.
Our min wage jumped from $8 to $10 last year and that jump raised prices on everything (for example our occasional pizza order increased by $6). By 2020 it jumps to $12, which is just nuts, and I expect to lose my job.
