If Americans have to work and all they can get for that work is poverty wages, then they are either too poor or too busy or too tired (in the case of working 2-3 low-paid jobs) to do much of anything else, such as protest the incumbent administration, protest laws, or otherwise disrupt the status quo and/or people who made those adverse decisions to begin with.
