Some Tax - Preparers

Posted: Dec 23rd, 2017 - 6:38 am In Reply to: Home deductions - You do not get that much

do not really understand what an independent contractor is and what all can be deducted. There is no xx amount of deductions needed in order to qualify to be able to take a home office deduction. I would find a different tax service who understands the meaning of the home office deductions. You can use part of your home as an office space. You can use all internet services, telephone services, paper, copier ink, pens, papers, part of your vehicle if you use it for business (even just going to the bank to deposit your check), insurance, part of your mortgage for the part of your home you use for home office....there are LOTs of deductions, and every bit helps! These are all on Schedule C, and not on the long form taking personal deductions. He/she was confused. Find someone else, please. Don't get ripped off!
