MTStars is a for-profit venture that makes its money from ads - that is why we do not have to pay to join. The reason it says "40,000" members at the top is for potential advertisers to know how many people are going to see their ad. Not so long ago, it said, "20,000." How MTStars knows this number is beyond me since most of us are guests on this site and not members.
