New technology should not be making rates - sm Posted: Dec 21st, 2017 - 10:11 am In Reply to: We've listened to this kind of whining long enough. - sm
decrease in this field. Technology does not diminish doctor/nurse salaries.
We STILL have to edit and know what belongs in a report. No person off the street could edit a medical report with any accuracy or speed.
Even though editing is the primary method of reporting now, this should not decrease our pay. Our pay should have steadily increased over the years instead of falling to miserably low rates.
If this doesn't change, the only pool MTSOs will have to choose will be inexperienced MTs. Good luck with that, MTSOs!
You get what you pay for, and the experienced MTs are moving on and refusing to take these rates!
The only MTs accepting these rates are new (with some pretty bad online courses) and semi-retired, who will eventually fully retire.
The new MTs who invest in courses that cost thousands of dollars are fools to accept minimum wage or slightly above pay with no benefits.
There won't be a qualified pool of MTs in the very near future.
