Because you had a bad experience does not mean that nobody cares. At the facility where I work, breaches are taken very seriously and it has nothing to do with celebrities, I know people who have been fired/fined for violations. In the above case, the PHI needs to be encrypted or omitted before sending the reports electronically. The OP could remind the employer or file a report with compliance but it takes months to do a thorough investigation. I'm sorry you did not have a favorable outcome but you need to stop spreading false information that nobody cares about HIPAA, it's the second time I've read it in this forum.
