I worked for a service in 1991 and was paid 8 cents a line. Each line was counted whether it was 1 word or a full sentence, so the pay was actually better than 8 cents a line. For a couple of diffucult doctors, I was paid 10 cents a line. Those were the days! There was a little more formatting involved with the work and I had to make 2 trips a day to drop off and pick up work, but I could actually make a decent wage as an IC. I also wrote off having a home office and using my car for the work which reduced my taxes. Very sad what's become of this profession.
