In your favor is the fact that you have recent acute care experience.
Out of your favor, it's just getting harder and harder to make money in the field. Most are not making $15 an hour. If you choose to do this, go in with your eyes wide open, and start looking for non-MT work. I went from averaging $20 per hour down to minimum wage because most of what I did was editing speech wreck. The hospitals stick every doctor in the facility on speech wreck, without even a thought of if the dictator qualifies to use it. A normal-paced dictator who doesn't back up over himself works. And just plain clinic reports with that same good dictator is even better. If you work for an MTSO, good luck getting only clinic work and only good dictators.
I left the gosh darn field 5 years ago, and never turned a backward glance.
