I know too many qualified, educated folks -- even young ones -- who can't find a job in IT. That market is saturated. (Don't forget that that industry also does a LOT of offshoring, plus there's the immigration factor.) In addition, for decades now that field has been biased toward hiring young males.
IMO anything related to government is probably a safe bet. I am about to graduate in criminal justice but also am a paralegal.
