With the automatic bank account debit to cover a bill before the paycheck was deposited, I learned the hard way. It was a nightmare and my bank charged me $35 per hit/overdraft. To make it worse, the automatic payments were also resubmitted, and hit me again. It hadn't occurred to me that these would be resubmitted, so I hadn't tried to stop that. If there isn't a law to force MTSOs to cover these charges when it's their fault due to payment delay, there certainly should be. After that experience, I canceled all automatic payment debits, no matter how "convenient" someone suggested it would be. I'm outraged that you are going through this.
