I was an employee and switched to IC since I couldn't meet their ridiculous quota. Even as an IC, they expect a schedule and I stick to it for the most part. But, we run out of work way too often as of late (past few months!), so yes I get back on in the evening. Per their emails, they pretty request everyone to work in the evenings since that seems to be when the work is available. I get your point about needing the work for insurance reasons, but we all need it for all kinds of reasons.
