General question about billing as an IC - mtjudy

Is it possible to make up an invoice for time spent on a mandatory meeting and perhaps include all time spent unpaid in this position, present it to their payroll person in a very professional manner. If it is rejected, then could you deduct it from taxes as an unpaid debt? You're an IC, so the company should pay. Does any contract specifically state that you can't bill for your time? If it does, can you add this to the contract or attempt to amend it before you accept the position without being totally rejected? Is it worth a try?

Or, can you skip the invoicing and keep track of time spent unpaid, deduct all of it from your taxes as a business expense without sharing the details with the company? I know this may seem far out there, but I'm thinking there has to be a legal way around this.
