Well, not exactly the same boat, but sort of. I applied a week after being laid off. My UE "benefit" is minimal, as the work (for me) had been so low for my last year or two (I was part-time anyway). Then, there were some issues with my application, a few calls and letters later and finally after a month I got my first check, which was around $250, which was for 3 weeks; they only held me back 1 week and I reported my severance pay on my second week, so... I guess each state is different; it doesn't appear that it made in difference in my UE pay.
