Yes, union. That was what CMT was Supposed to be. - deceit-ed Posted: Oct 21st, 2017 - 1:57 pm In Reply to: Congratulations! Go UNION! - nm
Unions were put in place because of management like these MTSOs who abuse the workers. Watch "Norma Rae" with Sally Field if you are too young to have experienced why we need a group that represents the workforce. We did not have a union when MTs were first brought into the hospitals because back then hospital workers "cared" for people and the patients. It was not a 'business.' We had no CEOs. We had nuns and brothers. We were not allowed to strike nor have a union. But....we did not offshore and these MTSOs were not even in business. Now, this is not a job that is fruitful and rewarding for an MT, it is abuse.
When CMT was brought into being (1970's maybe), they had you take a test and dues to be a 'member.' Yet, they had meetings you had to travel to, and required one meeting a month. This organization never really served as a union for the MT worker, nor were you backed up by them if you were ever wrongfully let go, nor did they set in place a decent wage requirement. They did not make things unified so that QA was not full of illogical rules just to abuse, but they did collect monies every year.
