I was laid off in September of 2016 along with numerous other employees and managers. Just got word from two other ladies that were still there (long-time employees) and they were laid off this past week. So it seems like September/October is their go to months. Not sure about the rest of the year. As for cashing out your PTO. You could get it and put it in a savings account to use later at Christmas or get it and buy a prepaid giftcard and keep that aside for later in the year to also use at Christmas or during slow weeks for your presents, groceries, etc.
