are eligible for unemployment. There is no "getting turned down." What you made last week or even last month has no bearing on your unemployment benefits, which get calculated a different way -- your monthly amount is based on earnings you made several months ago. You will get unemployment (even if retroactively) from the day after you got laid off. As for the severance (I was one of the employees laid off last year in Sep)...it won't affect the total amount you will receive; rather, it will just push it back, I think about a week, from when it would start.
