This from April 2015: "Nuance Transcription Services (NTS), which claims to provide extreme flexibility to its home-based employees, is expanding its India operations by hiring 3,000 more people in the next 18 months and investing $7.5 million in its facilities by October this year."
Timing matches up when considering time it takes to hire, train, etc. We did have too many MLS for the work we had, as you put it, because more work is going overseas. Again, this is strictly IMHO as I have no proof of this.
