All States differ in the amount of time you have to be without income. In my state, UE doesn't kick in until uouve haf a full week without pay. Here, severence counts as "pay" so you have to wait a week until after you have received your last payment from the company be it your normal paycheck or the severance pay but your state may be different. You can probably find this information online. Regardless, you are eligible for unemployment even with severance pay.
