I was 57 when I left transcription after 38 years. I had taken an enormous pay cut, to where I was no longer "chained" to my desk. Nursing school was tough, but in the end, you are right. We are the only ones who can make a positive change, no matter what time in our life. Caring for patients is immensely rewarding. I only wish I had done it sooner. :)
