Just as one example: As an MT from home, I have access to names, DOB, SS numbers, address, etc. I'm pretty sure an employer would not want the risk of having an employee with a history of fraud, etc., having access to this information. (But of course it seems acceptable to send this information to other countries via outsourcing!)
