In NORMAL times, I'd agree that straight transcription pay would be great. But right now, with Emdat as bad as it is and so unwieldy, getting nothing but unfamiliar dictators and accounts right and left, and poor audio sometimes, I'd much rather earn my average hourly rate, a halfway decent rate I can count on. Even if I was paid the straight transcription rate right now, my line counts would be so awful that I think I'd only be earning minimum wage! I'm happy with AHR. Maybe others are doing faster work and aren't benefiting from AHR, but that's not the case with me.
