I'd need at least 0.02 more per line than they pay employees. If employees got 0.04, I'd want 0.06 for editing; and if straight was 0.07 for employees, I'd need 0.09 as an IC. If not, I wouldn't take the job. The fact that so many ICs have accepted the same rate as employees has absolutely ruined things for ICs. Sometimes MTs are their own worst enemy. With that said, I've never had to make that choice.
