If you have no work then you're just out of work. If you're lucky you work for an MTSO that will be kind enough to notify you of accounts leaving or any other excuse why there's no work.
Sometimes they just leave you hanging as long as you're willing to wait with no work.
I've worked in both capacities - 10 years as an IC and 5 years with Nuance. I found that in neither situation was I ever given any decent notice of an account leaving. I was always just left in the dark wondering and assuming.
Did you contact the owner to see what the situation is?
