I've done it only a couple of times before, but only for 2-3 months at a time to supplement what I was already making, so what was due came out of our tax return at the end of the year.
After this whole cyber attack incident though, I've made up my mind that it's too risky for me to work IC. At least with employee status, you can file for unemployment for some help.
Pros and cons to either, so to each his own I suppose.
