For those on both sides - Been there, done that

If anyone feels that we should have sympathy for the plight of Nuance, I'm sure many of us have exactly as much sympathy for them as they did for us when they took the jobs that had supported us and our families for many years.  I am sympathetic to the patients and the medical staff trying to work with no records, and who have no idea if they are being sold on the black market or just gone.  If you feel you must take up for them because you accept a paycheck from them, that's your prerogative.  When discussing the job climate today, you must accept that you get what you settle for, and not only for you.  Your children will inherit whatever job conditions you're creating now.  If you want your children to see that you're paid half what you're worth, are at your employer's beck and call, even when you can't get a response from them, and are always worried what the next call from India will mean for your job, then by all means, go back to Nuance.  Or teach them by example to stand up for themselves and expect a fair wage for a good day's work. Teach them to be proud to pay American taxes because that's what keeps this country going and that's who we are.  If you must work from home, do some research on how many work-at-home jobs now pay by the hour.  If you're able to work outside the home, look for a job that keeps the money in your community.  Show your children the only thing that keeps this country strong is our commitment to each other to do the right thing.
