Reminded me of an experiment we tried - Old MT

Posted: Jun 27th, 2017 - 3:36 pm In Reply to: Why do nurses or other hands-on medical people - think they can whip this work out SM

Back in the "olden days" when we had an in-house department in the hospital, we actually had cake and punch for MT week. We were still using typewriters then and had a station set up for nurses to try their hand at doing MT. They all thought it was going to be so "easy". They would sit down, peck a couple of keys, and then there would be dead silence. Then pecking of a couple more keys, then dead silence. All of them commented that they had no idea of how hard doing MT was. They all thought they could just sit down and type away. All of the MTs had a good chuckle over their comments and it sure opened their eyes about how "easy" our job was. I think the owners of all the MTSOs should try the same thing and see just how "easy" our job is for the few pennies they pay us. They wouldn't last 5 minutes.
