surely you have some references! - Just put on your thinking cap!

Surely you have some old friends who know you are a decent honorable person with good work habits, ask a couple of them if you can use them as references. What about former co-workers, who know your skill set and that you are a pleasant and reliable person to work with? Surely, you know people who can vouch for you even though they are not MTs, especially since you are looking for other employment. You are most certainly not alone with this problem, lots of people look for other employment and would prefer to not let their present employers know about it -- with the intent to give them proper notice. It is not a bad thing that you have to ask old friends and colleagues to be your references when you have been working at your present job for many years and do not want your present employer to know. Indeed, your future employer will appreciate your stability.
