One career that is hiring in my area is for at-home assistants for the elderly. The companies often offer on-the-job paid training. The work can involve a variety of tasks including grocery shopping, light housekeeping, assistance with medications or meal prep, driving the senior to their doctor appointment, etc. It doesn't necessarily involve anything directly medical, though some offer training to become a CNA and go further. The pay is not fabulous, but it's improving (where I'm at), some offer $11-$15 per hour depending on the level of training and experience.
