I am a long-time MT and yes, all is true; horrible pay, no time off, treated poorly, no retirement. After my company initiated SR I knew it was time to re-think my “career”. I took the plunge into coding and I love it. Jobs are plentiful and pay is SO, SO much more than MT. As an MT I already had a lot of the basics of training. Within a year I finished my program (from home while continuing my day job) and got certified. You might want to consider coding…..just a thought!!
